Miguel Harth-Bedoya

Caminos del Inka concerts at Grant Park Music Festival, Chicago – July 2013

“Miguel Harth-Bedoya served as both the able conductor and enlightening tour guide for Friday night’s unusual Grant Park Music Festival concert at Millennium Park, a lively and colorful multimedia journey down the Inca Trail….

…He had the orchestra players dancing to a snappy Latin beat licked with fiery brass and sizzling percussion. The crackling energy of the music was cued to a handsome video presentation on the Jay Pritzker Pavilion’s huge new screen. The fluid montage of images ranged from travelogue footage of Peruvian folk dancers, to quaint, 18th-century watercolors, to dazzling modern abstractions.”

As we begin to celebrate the Centennial Season of the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, it is important not only to look back on how far we have come, but also to look ahead to our future.  What better way to do this than to release a recording that highlights these six inspiring composers, among the best of our generation, with whom we have had the pleasure of working and knowing in depth.
This 2-CD album, recorded live at Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth, Texas, includes seven world premiere recordings by the FWSO’s impressive roster of Composers-In-Residence: Gabriela Lena Frank, John B Hedges, Peter Boyer, Behzad Ranjbaran, and Pulitzer Prize winners Jennifer Higdon and Kevin Puts.

A fun and listener-friendly album with Andean, Americana, bluegrass and rock inspirations.

MHB appointed Chief Conductor of the Norwegian Radio Orchestra

September 1, 2012adminNews0
Miguel has been appointed Chief Conductor of the Norwegian Radio Orchestra
in Oslo, a post that begins in September 2013.  He will conduct the orchestra for a minimum of six weeks per year in addition to recording and touring projects.

Miguel first conducted the orchestra in November 2010 with Renée Fleming as soloist.

“My musical collaboration with the Norwegian Radio Orchestra was exciting and powerful from the start.  I was very impressed by the superior talent of the orchestra musicians and the wide range of musical interest and ability of the orchestra as a whole.  The musicians and staff are warm, friendly and great to work with.  I knew right away that the Norwegian Radio Orchestra and I were a great match.  I am thrilled to begin this partnership.”

Rolf Stenso, Chief Executive of the Norwegian Radio Orchestra commented: “The chemistry between Miguel and the orchestra was excellent right from the start, both musically and personally. We had very little rehearsal time, but with his expertise the results were outstanding.”

His next public appearance with the orchestra will be in November 2012.
